June Favourites

Finally, I am back with my most recent favourites from the month of June.

I will dive straight in with my beauty favourites, starting with the Lush Tea Tree Water toner. Now this bad boy has rapidly become my go to hydrating toner for both morning and night and I shall tell you why. This handy spray bottle not only hydrates but soothes and calms the skin thanks to the tea tree water, which is a natural antibacterial, it also contains grapefruit water which so refreshing making this perfect for morning and mid-day pick-me ups. This stuff has helped my skin get the boost of moisture and also kept any breakouts in check by reducing the redness and basically stopped them from being painful.

Lush-£7.50 for 250g

My go to June base was the Garnier Miracle Skin cream. Now this purchase was enabled by two things, firstly, Anna from viviannadoesmakeup, who influences me on multiple purchases and secondly, my vow to start wearing lighter makeup for summer; bases, blush, lipstick, the lot. This cream starts out as a white cream and once rubbed into skin, it changes and adapts to your skin colour. I find with this if not blended properly or if my application is slightly overenthusiastic, I can look a tad orange especially around my chin/upper lip area. But the best way I have found to apply this is a bit at a time with my fingers and then blending it in with my real techniques buffing brush. Once I have done my whole face, I continue with the rest of my makeup (usually eyebrows/eyeshadow) and I find that parts of the base continue to darken and need further buffing, but this is pretty easy to do and doesn’t take too long. But saying that it blends in amazingly, gives a lovely light coverage, a luminous healthy finish, protects with SPF 20 and hydrates your skin like no other base I have ever used. My skin feels amazing and plumped when I’m wearing it and after I have taken it off. Even with its flaws I love it.

the miracle cream before and after. Boots-£12.99 (on sale for £8.99 now!)

Two newly purchased products are two very different topshop highlighters that I love for different reasons. First, the Glow cream highlighter in the shade Polished, which is a fabulous pink/gold/champagne colour, is so light and easy to blend, no glitter just shimmer the results are a perfectly dewy complexion, love at first use. The other is a Baked highlighter in the shade Sunbeam, this is my preferred highlighter for evening wear as it is so highly pigmented you can really get quite a dramatic look. It is pure gold in colour so might not suit every skin tone, but it is a really treat if you can use it!

on my hand: Sunbeam £10 on L and Polished £9 on the R

One of the highlights of this month was going to the Warner Bros Studio Tour: The Making of Harry Potter in Watford, I got these tickets as a Christmas present but this has been the only time I could go. As a self-proclaimed extreme Harry Potter fan, this was a dream come true and the tour was actually fantastic, recommend it to anyone who can afford go. And if I don’t stop here I will continue to ramble about Harry Potter and my Hogwarts letter that obviously was lost by an owl.

Continuing on this HP theme to my book favourites for the month, picked up from the Harry Potter tour was ‘Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them’ by Newt Scamander aka JK Rowling. If you are a Harry Potter fan (instantly my friend), buy it, devour it and revel in the magic and extra knowledge you have gained. The second book is pretty well known and has been highly praised from so many people so I will jump on the bandwagon too, of course it’s ‘The Fault in Our Stars’ by John Green. I bawled my eyes out, no exaggeration, I was so invested and enthralled by this book I read it in a day and still cannot stop thinking about, beautifully written just amazing.

Amazon- Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them £4.99 and TFIOS £7.99

And last but not least my favourite TV watches of the month, there are quite a few that I had been hoarding to watch after my exams but these were my favourites. First is ‘Faking It’ season 1, a new MTV series with such an original story, brilliantly acted out, what more could you ask for? It is about two best friends, Karma and Amy, who pretend to be a couple (Karmy) to attain popularity in their very diverse and accepting school (yay), and the episodes basically follow the turmoil that ensues, great cast, very witty, keep an eye out for the little sly direct ‘digs’ they have snuck in at various famous things such as Glee or Google, very entertaining. If you watch this series you also have to watch the regular weekly recaps, Faking It Friday, by Sarah and Adrianna of the Unsolicited Project YouTube channel aka the Gay Women’s channel, they are so hilarious, they even got a mention from the actress who plays Karma during a webchat. Please go subscribe because they are so funny and deserve some love! Next was the eagerly awaited ‘Orange is the New Black’ season 2, I will not bang on about as it seems to be everywhere at the moment. I binged watched it in two/three days like the rest of the world and season 1, everyone needs to see it, end of story.

And that’s it, I promise more posts will start appearing soon, so follow me on Bloglovin, Twitter, Tumblr, Instagram etc etc etc…

Love youuuu

Origins Moisturiser and Eye cream Review

After using these moisturiser and eye cream for several months now I feel like I can give a decent review.

The Origins Make a Difference Plus Rejuvenating moisturiser, contains Rose of Jericho, Lychee and watermelon which all aim to boost moisture deep within dry and dehydrated skin.
I am not exaggerating when I say that this moisturiser has saved my skin, it was dry and dehydrated with bad texture. I have used this morning and night since the beginning of September and it is coming to an end now (would have lasted longer but I knocked onto the floor, sob). I have also re-bought this since the last one finished which says A LOT. The scent is divine, as per for most origins products, and the texture is perfect. It is easily applied and quickly absorbed making it ideal for under makeup. Another benefit of this moisturiser is that it is oil free so it doesn’t clog my pores in my temperamental T zone.
And because it is origins it is made without any nasties (parabens, mineral oils, etc etc). This product is priced at £34 which may seem a bit steep but it has lasted me for so long it is totally worth the money.

Another reason I love Origins is that they occasionally have freebies, I got a ‘small’ sample of the GinZing eye cream. I’m not sure how much you get in this little pot, but this is definitely a sizable product that will last me a while. The product contains caffeine, ginseng and magnolia which awakens and refreshes your eyes. Now I have never used an eye cream before so I haven’t got much to compare it too, but as long as it moisturising and improves the appearance of my zombie eyes I am sold! And that’s exactly what it does. It is so cooling and rejuvenating in the morning and soothing at night, I really think it has improved the skin around my eyes dramatically, making it less dehydrated and tired looking. It has a peach tone to it and is great for the mornings as it counteracts the dark circles and it has some reflective particles which also help.

Overall I am sold on both of these and have loved every origins product that I have ever tried, my love affair with this brand will hopefully never end.

My morning skincare routine will be up on Wednesday :)

Busy as a Bee.

So hello internet, I am aware that I have been AWOL as of recent months and my only excuse for this is that life got in the way.

Now this really is a pitiful excuse so I will justify it a little bit further; medicine is a very hectic degree to manage, as is a relationship, a social life, anxiety and sometimes just picking what to wear can be a time consuming event. But this attitude is going. For this year I really wanted to change quite a lot of things, mainly my attitude towards life and daily tasks/work I have to do. This includes my blog which I have immensely missed which surprised me and I am really going to try to get some regular posts out into the world.

To keep me focussed I have found motivational pictures and quotes very helpful and I thought I would share a few with you in case anyone out there is in the same pickle.

Love

Naomi :)

Ps. You can always follow my daily life on-

Personal favourite.
