Liz Earle Skincare Review

Whilst on holiday, the day that I had been dreading arrived, my Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish finally gave up on me. The worst timing ever.  The day I got back I ran to John Lewis and repurchased a 200ml bottle and seeing as I don’t buy a lot of things twice, I thought that this would be a good time for a review of the Liz Earle skin care essentials routine.

Just a bit of skin care background, before this I had basically nothing to speak of. I slapped a bit of moisturiser on before I put my makeup on and then my makeup was removed by either makeup wipes/remover and that was it. But after a while of bitching about my skin and delving into the online beauty world, I decided to take the plunge and invest in a proper skin care routine. The reason that I picked Liz Earle is pretty much down to Zoella, her appraisal convinced me that this would be great starter products.

So I think will start the review with my favourite part of the set, the cleanser.

Cleanse & Polish-Hot Cloth Cleanser

I absolutely love everything about this cleanser, the smell, the texture etc. This is a cream cleanser and it is made with all natural plant extracts which is perfectly free of perfumes and fragrances. It does not strip my skin or leave it feeling tight but it does remove all of my makeup, waterproof and all. I just massage this into my skin all over my eyes and then I remove it with warm water and a muslin cloth or flannel. I find that this is perfect at keeping my skin smooth, spot free and really helps keep my blackheads in check throughout my t-zone. It is meant to be suitable for all skin types including sensitive skin, although I know it doesn't always suit everyone.

Instant Boost-Skin Tonic

This alcohol-free toner is just so beautiful, it is a hydrating toner and I think really it does help your moisturiser work. It really is a great boost of moisture to your skin and I do really see the difference in my skin for using it.

Skin Repair Moisturiser-Dry/Sensitive

This moisturiser comes in a few different versions to cater for as many skin types as possible, I went for this one purely because it said sensitive and I panicked that the other versions would possibly aggravate my skin. I think I possibly over reacted. I quickly learnt that this formula may be a bit heavy for the summer day, and couldn't really be worn underneath my makeup. I have been using this as my night cream and it has been working really well. I do also think that this will work well in the winter when my skin dries up.

Overall, I think this is an amazing set and for a skin care virgin is the perfect first time buy to introduce someone to the skincare crazy world.

Lipstick Tag

How many lip products do you have?

After a massive clear out of my makeup collection I have 32 lip products.

What was your first ever lipstick?

I think it was a Rimmel bright red lipstick, I did not do subtle when I was younger.

What is your most worn lipstick?

This will definitely be my Clinique Different Lipstick in Sweet Honey, it is a pinky brown, nude colour. It is very much a ‘your lipstick but better’30, it’s very moisturising and I love it.

What is your favourite brand for lip products?

For high end I would say MAC and high street either Revlon or Rimmel.

What is your favourite finish?

My lips are quite dry so I prefer something that is quite moisturising which means normally avoiding a matte/satin finish and going for one with shine or cream finish.

What was the last lip product you bought?

The last little present I got myself was a MAC Lustre lipstick in the colour Lovelorn, very pretty, wearable pink, it’s not too bright and not too pale. Just lovely!

How many lip products do you have in your handbag?

I normally just carry the lipstick/gloss I am wearing that day and a lip balm to top up moisture levels so it doesn’t normally exceed 2/3 products at a time.

What lipstick do you use for a red lip?

I’d have to pick my favourite ever red lipstick, Rimmel’s Moisture Renew Lipstick in the colour Diva Red, which is a gorgeous deep blue toned red. I use one of two lip liners with it, either Topshop’s lip liner in Deception (I think) for when I want a vamp-ier deep red or with Rimmel’s lasting finish lip liner in Red Dynamite for when I want it to be a bit brighter.

How do you store your lipsticks?

I at the moment have them crammed in plastic draws which cost £1 from Poundland, cheap and cheerful.

What lip products are currently on your wishlist?

I want a YSL Rouge Volupte lipstick so much, partially for the lipstick and partially for the luxury packaging, swoon.
